Libraries are a crucial part of a strong community, and the Omaha Symphony is celebrating their powerful impact on Omaha and its citizens through song.
We've teamed up with our friends at the Omaha Public Library to take a musical journey through 150 years of Omaha's growth and changes. You will hear music from each of Omaha's defining eras, supported by historical photos and facts courtesy of the OPL's brand-new Genealogy & Local History Room. From the sound of the Union Pacific Railroad to the TV themes reminiscent of the Swanson Food era, we'll celebrate our city's past and look forward to the future.
Featuring student soloist Champagne from the Omaha Conservatory of Music, this program's penultimate piece is an arrangement of local composer Danny Sabra's My Home is Here. This piece was originally part of Opera Omaha's Poetry in Music project; the archives of that project are housed at Omaha Public Library.
